The deficiency in available sulfur is a root cause of weakness in the gastro-intestinal barrier. This important barrier separates the digesting food from the immune defense system. Sulfur is the basis of di-sulfide bonds, which form three dimensional proteins to build cellular connections and produce protective mucous.
It is suspected to be a root cause overgrowth of bacterial and yeast species in the intestine as a result of this compromised structural integrity and system weakness. This is especially true for hydrogen sulfide dominant SIBO, but applies to overgrowth of methane, hydrogen and fungal species in the small and large intestine.
GI Janel ONE requires a gradual dose ramping to resolve gas and bloating. In the early stages you may pass more gas as the microbiome shifts. This is normal and will decline over time. Bloating, for most patients, however, will quickly diminish.
It is used with gradual dose increases to mitigate sulfite intolerances. GI Janel soothes the mucous layer of the intestine with gentle, demulcent herbs. It also contains the gentle, water soluble fiber acacia which promotes regular, formed bowels in cases either diarrhea or constipation.
